Ideas to Help You Keep Your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions

Making a few simple changes to your daily routine can increase your calorie burn and help you maintain those fitness resolutions.

Instead of this:    Do this:
Letting Fido run around the backyard Take Fido for a walk around the block
Watching TV with the family Have a family activity night
Riding the elevator  Take the stairs
Parking in the nearest spot Park toward the back of the lot, and walk
Driving to work Walk or bike if possible
Buying snacks from the vending machine Pack your own healthy snacks
Working through lunch at the office  Get out of the office and go for a jog
Hiring someone to perform yard work Do your own landscaping
Going to a movie with friends Plan a game of golf or tennis 
Watching TV sitting down Do jumping jacks/lunges/pushups during the episode
Hitting the snooze button Get up and do a 10-minute yoga routine
Letting your child play video games Encourage them to play outdoors
Lazy day at the beach Choose an active vacation destination
