The Adams County SPCA (ACSPCA) has been instrumental in helping several soldiers and their families to re-home pets due to the soldiers’ deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan. The first “happy tail” that comes to mind is a little kitten named Tiny. Tiny’s family members received orders to report to a base in Texas, where they would live while their soldier was serving his country fighting in Iraq. This little kitten had been rescued by the soldier’s family so that it could have eye surgery—which couldn’t happen due to the deployment. After hearing about the kitten, the ACSPCA stepped up, had the kitten’s eye surgery done and was able to find it a new home. Another kitten named Merlin was adopted when his soldier also went off to war.
