Bringing spring indoors

By Colleen Wonder, Interior Designer AASID

As these cold winter days dwindle, I find myself dreaming of warm spring days and my beautiful bulbs poking through the ground, with hints of colors enhancing the exterior of my home. To fight the winter blahs, I choose to bring the outdoors in.

I create miniature versions of my spring gardens to accessorize my home, using smaller-scaled blooming bulbs, cascading ivy plants and annuals grouped together in elegant planters or vases as coffee table accents. Daffodils and hyacinths can be placed individually for a dramatic effect. Consider a teacup, small crock or glass jar as your container, tuck in colored moss to hide your potting soil and place in a sunny windowsill or brighten your bathroom counter.
