A “growing” rate of return

Property values are currently a very hot topic amongst Adams County residents. The recent tax assessment has sparked a heated debate between many property owners and the county tax assessment office. Property tax assessment time is probably the only the time that property owners argue, scream, shout and debate the issue that their property should be assessed for less.

For most of us, our homes are the single largest investment we will make in our lifetime, with the thought being that this investment will yield positive returns at some point during our lifetime or at least for an inheritance we leave behind. Whichever the case may be, we expect our home to increase in value over time. Simply stated, this continued increase in value is usually reflective of two factors. The first is the condition of the overall economy of the country, especially the real estate market. As an individual homeowner, we have little, if any, influence over this factor.
