Freelance Writer

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Studies in English, communications, journalism, or related field
  • Self-motivated, possessing exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge of AP Style is a plus

Writers are paid per assignment to an agreed upon rate.

Celebrate Gettysburg is a local, bimonthly magazine that focuses on the people and places that make our area unique. Each issue features in-depth articles and outstanding photography commemorating modern life in our historic town.

Celebrate Gettysburg magazine has an immediate need for an Advertising Sales Rep to join our team. This position will work closely with the Creative Director and other Advertising Sales Reps to further develop relationships with advertisers in the region.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Developing leads and growing advertisers via phone, email and in-person visits
  • Working with potential advertisers to determine the best way to promote their offerings
  • Creating contracts
  • Attending fun community events, including bi-monthly Behind the Cover

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Self-motivated, possessing exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Comfortable meeting new people with a desire to network
  • Experience in sales or marketing is a plus

The Advertising Sales Rep will be paid a 20% commission on any sales acquired.

Editorial Intern

Are you looking for exciting experience in the magazine industry? Do you have a passion for telling people’s stories? Want to work with a great group of professionals who love their community and what they do?

If so, we want you!

Celebrate Gettysburg magazine has an immediate need for an Editorial Intern to join our team. Working with both the Executive Editor and Assistant Editor, the Editorial Intern will gain hands-on, practical experience in magazine publishing, and learn the ins and outs of putting together a bimonthly magazine, from conceptualization to final production.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Researching and writing content for Celebrate Gettysburg print and online editions, including Upfront and Department articles, Experience Adams events calendar, and online exclusive stories
  • Coordinating award submissions and other exciting tasks for Gettysburg’s Greatest Awards, an annual “best of” list voted on by readers of Celebrate Gettysburg magazine
  • Fact checking and transcribing interviews
  • Assisting the Executive Editor and Assistant Editor in all aspects of magazine production
  • Attending and assisting with fun community events, including bi-monthly Behind the Cover
