A Natural Connection

Artist shares love of nature and wildlife through paintings

Realist painter David Weaver leans on a cannon and peers into a set of binoculars on the south side of Gettysburg National Military Park.

On a sunny day at the battlefield, Weaver feels at home scouring the landscape for wildlife.

It’s a comfort he feels often in searching for his next painting’s subject.

“If you like history, you can’t get any better than Gettysburg,” Weaver says. “There are a lot of people that have lived here that don’t appreciate it. That’s not me. That’s something I don’t take for granted.”

As a battlefield guide for more than 24 years, Weaver knows the area well.
